David Gourlay is an accomplished business and non-profit strategist and community builder, based in Ottawa, with more than 25 years of experience across the public, private and charitable sectors. David is known for forging strong, long-term partnerships that build meaningful connections and deliver results through creativity and strategic insight. Throughout his career, David has served as an executive-level influencer, initiator and collaborator who leads with thoughtful strategy and a deep commitment to community impact. In Ottawa’s non-profit sector, he led a high-profile foundation by guiding a comprehensive renewal of its fundraising program to strengthen donor giving while cultivating a people-first culture and acting as the organization’s chief ambassador to deepen community relationships and impact.

David’s commitment to Ottawa is reflected in his extensive volunteer leadership. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Public Library, Y’s Owl Maclure and the Ottawa Community Housing Foundation as well as Board Chair of the Ottawa Sport Council. He founded the Ottawa Champions Baseball Club in 2015 and also co-founded the Miracle League of Ottawa, a fully accessible and inclusive recreation and sport facility in Orléans for children and youth with special needs.

In 2009, David was recognized with a “40 Under 40” award by the Ottawa Business Journal. In 2014, he was invested as a Member of the Order of Ottawa for his community contributions and in 2022, David was named Fundraising Professional of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (Ottawa Chapter).
