Karina Rolland brings thoughtful political insight, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of how government works to the firm’s growing public affairs practice. Based in Ottawa, she will be supporting mission-driven organizations as they navigate complex policy environments and engage effectively with decision-makers.
With years of experience across provincial and federal politics, government relations, and stakeholder engagement, Karina has worked at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and parliamentary affairs. She is known for her ability to translate complex issues into clear, strategic advocacy approaches grounded in political reality.
Before joining Homeward, Karina built her career working with elected officials, political staff, and public servants across multiple levels of government. That experience gives her a practical understanding of how decisions are made, where influence lives, and how organizations can engage credibly and effectively to advance their priorities.
Outside of work, Karina brings a global perspective shaped by her international background and long-standing community involvement, and remains passionate about advancing policies that improve wellbeing and strengthen communities.
Prior to her most recent role at IBM Canada, Alayne served as the Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs for IBM, where she cultivated strategic relationships with government officials across all levels of government and provided critical market support for high-stakes transactions. Previous career highlights include serving as the Director of Corporate Affairs at Shaw Communications, as the Manager of Public Affairs at the Canadian Automobile Association, as well as a tour in government serving in both communications and operations roles for the Prime Minister of Canada.
An active participant in her community, Alayne sits on several boards, including the Canadian Lung Association and Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). She is a graduate of Queen’s University, holding a Master of Business Administration, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University. Fluent in both English and French, she has also received accolades such as the IBM Gerstner Award for Client Excellence and being named on PR in Canada’s Top 30 under 30 list.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Alayne cherishes adventures with her family, running, live music, and diverse culinary experiences. Currently, she is excited to be learning Mandarin.
